An Experimental Study of Tromexan

چکیده
compound 3, 3'-methylene-bis-4, 4'-oxycoumarin had remarkable anticoagulant properties. This compound was designated as 'Dicoumarol'. The drug is effective after oral administration in contradistinction to 'Heparin', but takes a longer time to act and its action also persists for a very much longer time than that of 'Heparin'. To increase the absorption rate of 'Dicoumarol' and thereby quicken its action in the body, attempts were made to modify the molecular structure. Such an attempt resulted in the synthesis of Bis-3-3' (4-oxycoumarinyl) ethyl acetate, now styled as 'Tromexan'. Reinis and Kubik in 1948 first reported the synthesis, and a study of the clinical properties of this

The common use of dicumarinyl derivatives for the treatment of thromboembolic diseases justifies further clinical evaluation of dicumarol and 4,4'-dihydroxydicumarinyl ethyl acetate [Pelentan, Tromexan, 3,3'-carboxymethylenebis (4-hydroxycoumarin) ethyl ester.] The need for a more thorough understanding of the pharmacodynamic action of dicumarinyl anticoagulants has prompted a study of their gr...

The use of heparin and dicumarol has provided important information regarding the effectiveness and the difficulties of anticoagulant therapy. Neither, however, is an ideal anticoagulant; therefore a search for new substances with advantages over them must be continued. Tromexan, which is administered orally, appears to have the advantages of more rapid utilization and more rapid cessation of a...
متن کاملEffect of anticoagulants on recanalisation.
THE use of anticoagulant drugs in the therapy or prevention of thromboembolic conditions has been advocated because such drugs are known to prevent or lessen intravascular thrombosis and extension of a thrombosis. Wright, Kubik and Haydenhave shown, moreover, that ethyl biscoumacetate (Tromexan) promotes recanalisation of a vein or artery occluded by a thrombus. In order to test their findings ...

The experience with a new prothrombopenic agent, Dipaxin, is presented. With a 30 mg. dose a prothrombin complex concentration under 30 per cent is reached in 41 hours or less. When associated with 1500 mg. of Tromexan the latent period is reduced to 24 hours. The prothrombopenic action of Dipaxin is readily counteracted with vitamin K, administered either orally or intravenously. NTICOAGULANT ...
